Recclesia Stained Glass has been commissioned to undertake a scheme of conservation and repair work to the stained glass at Grade II* listed Manchester Jewish Museum, which is currently being extended and restored. The project will see the stained glass removed to our Manchester studio for specialist conservation work ready for the reopening of the building in 2021.
The Manchester Jewish Museum is the only such museum outside of London and the building is the oldest surviving synagogue building in Manchester, completed in 1874. It is a beautiful example of Victorian architecture, and contains some outstanding stained glass throughout.
The Museum chronicles the lives of Jewish people in Manchester and their contribution to making the city what it is today. A newly developed museum will open in 2021 with a major new extension and fully restored and refurbished synagogue. In the meantime, a pop-up musuem has been opened at Manchester Town Hall.
